A Brief History of BTS

The Biblical Theological Seminary (BTS) (formerly the Biblical Institute for Theological Preparation) is a ministry of New Testament Church in Amman. It was founded with the dual purposes of training leaders to start churches and establish ministries in the Arab world, and equipping leaders for serving in the churches already established in the Middle East.

BTS, founded in 2002, provides Biblical and theological training for students desiring to study the Word of God and prepare themselves to fulfill God's call in their lives. The Biblical Theological Seminary is an independent biblical seminary, which cooperates with Bible-believing churches throughout the Arab World.

This ministry was the vision of Pastor Ghassan Nicolas Haddad who was serving in Jordan as a pastor for a local church in the capital city of Amman. The start was difficult but God was there and it was He who allowed the ministry to grow. In 2003 courses were added to help the students to earn the Associate in Biblical Studies. In 2004 the Associate of Theology degree was developed to enable students to pursue more advanced ministry education.

By 2004 BTS had three degrees to offer, recognized by several Conservative Evangelical and Baptist Colleges and Seminaries. 2008 marked the launching of a Graduate School of Ministry. In 2010 that dream was realized, and BTS now offers Masters-level programs of study.

November of 2017 will mark the fifteenth anniversary of BTS. We rejoice to look back and realize that over 331 men and women have studied with the school. Over 250 students completed the certificate-level program of 32 credit hours. 60 students received diplomas for completing over 64 credit hours. 15 Bachelors’ degrees. 9 Masters of Ministry and 5 Masters of Biblical Studies have been earned. Perhaps most exciting is the fact that 36 of our students are currently serving in full-time ministry.

In 2002, the school began with two teachers. We now have 7 resident faculty, 4 adjunct, 2 non-resident and 10 teachers who visit to teach on a regular basis.

These victories are the result of reliance upon the Lord and His provision through partnership with local churches around the world, and God deserves all the glory for all He has done!
